Help Your Child Speak Their Mind

With motor speech disorders such as Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), your child may have trouble with sending and receiving messages from their brain. This turns into poor oral coordination when trying to form words and speak.

Speech therapy can help with strengthening that connection through repeated practice of words, visual prompting and simultaneous with our SLP and with you at home.

Does My Child Have Apraxia of Speech (CAS)?

A child with CAS may show certain problems like speech delay, literacy problems (reading & writing), and fine motor skill challenges. Some of the early signs for childhood apraxia of speech are when your child:

R

says the same words differently every time

R

puts stress or emphasizes on the wrong syllable of a word

R

alters the sound of words or distorts words

R

finds it easier to say shorter words than longer words

A proper evaluation is crucial to getting the right treatment. Even as early as toddler age, you can get in touch with a speech-language pathologist today if you find any signs that may indicate CAS and other motor speech disorders.
